The Spinning trademark

Why may the word ”spinning” not be used?
Since 1992, Spinning® has been a registered trademark of the company Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc.
Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc also owns the rights to Johnny G's Spinning®, Johnny G Spinner®, Spinner®, Spin® and SpintensityTM. These rights apply to instruction, fitness courses, fitness equipment, sports nutrition, video and audio equipment as well as all types of clothing.

This means that you are not allowed to call ”spinning” spinning in your gym unless you are a certified Spinning® instructor using Spinning® bikes based on an approved permission to do so.

This does not mean that Spinning® is special compared to the way in which you as a participant, instructor or gym owner carry out those sessions at the moment, but you are not allowed to use the word Spinning® because this is a registered trademark.

Instead, you could call the sessions ”biking”, ”cycling”, ”indoor cycling” or something similar.
