Calculating your training heart rate

How to calculate your training heart rate
Your training heart rate depends on several factors. You need to know your maximum heart rate, your resting heart rate as well as the training level that you want to apply.

Calculate your training heart rate by means of the Kavonen formula:

Training heart rate =

(Heart rate reserve x intensity in %) + resting heart rate

What is the heart rate reserve?
The heart rate reserve is the number of beats available for extra movements, i.e. your maximum heart rate minus your minimum resting heart rate. The better your shape, the lower your resting heart rate and therefore the higher your heart rate reserve. Make sure to check your resting heart rate at regular intervals and do the calculation again.

Heart rate reserve = max heart rate – resting heart rate
